Lately, I feel like I’m chasing my tail, round and round, trying to catch up on everything that somehow slipped through the cracks. You know the kind of days when you wake up full of good intentions, ready to take on the world… and then suddenly it’s 6 p.m., and all you’ve managed is to make tea, lose your pen, and have a deep conversation with the dog? Yeah, those days!
It’s as if the universe has decided to test my focus, or maybe it’s playing a bit of a joke. Every time I get momentum, something random happens: the phone rings, a neighbour appears with a “quick question,” or the kettle mysteriously calls my name (again). Sometimes I wonder if the universe is whispering, “You’re not supposed to rush right now. Just breathe.”
And maybe it’s right. Maybe the distractions are part of the plan, not obstacles, but gentle nudges to slow down and realign. Because when I stop fighting the chaos, I notice the small things I’d normally miss: the light shifting through the window, the sound of birds having their own morning meeting, the quiet wisdom in just being.
So instead of chasing my tail, I’m trying to wag it. To find a bit of humour in the mess, grace in the delay, and patience in the pause. Life isn’t always about catching up, sometimes it’s about catching on.
As Granny Frass says:
“Well, if the universe keeps tripping you up, love, maybe it’s trying to stop you from running in the wrong direction! Sit down, have a cuppa, and let it catch up to you for once.”
