Chasing My Tail (and Maybe the Universe’s Too)…

Lately, I feel like I’m chasing my tail, round and round, trying to catch up on everything that somehow slipped through the cracks. You know the kind of days when you wake up full of good intentions, ready to take on the world… and then suddenly it’s 6 p.m., and all you’ve managed is to make tea, lose your pen, and have a deep conversation with the dog? Yeah, those days!

It’s as if the universe has decided to test my focus, or maybe it’s playing a bit of a joke. Every time I get momentum, something random happens: the phone rings, a neighbour appears with a “quick question,” or the kettle mysteriously calls my name (again). Sometimes I wonder if the universe is whispering, “You’re not supposed to rush right now. Just breathe.”

And maybe it’s right. Maybe the distractions are part of the plan, not obstacles, but gentle nudges to slow down and realign. Because when I stop fighting the chaos, I notice the small things I’d normally miss: the light shifting through the window, the sound of birds having their own morning meeting, the quiet wisdom in just being.

So instead of chasing my tail, I’m trying to wag it. To find a bit of humour in the mess, grace in the delay, and patience in the pause. Life isn’t always about catching up, sometimes it’s about catching on.

As Granny Frass says:

“Well, if the universe keeps tripping you up, love, maybe it’s trying to stop you from running in the wrong direction! Sit down, have a cuppa, and let it catch up to you for once.”

Yep. Gotta stop fighting the chaos. Tea and a nap on your new sofa, might do the trick? xxx

    1. Ha ha, yes, Joey! Sometimes the only sensible thing is to surrender to the chaos. Tea, a nap, and on my new sofa, that sounds like the perfect plan 😄 xxx

Love this, Mae. Life really does slow us down to notice the little things. Sometimes the pauses are God’s way of teaching patience and showing us beauty we’d otherwise miss. Keep finding the joy in the little moments.

    1. Thank you, Willie 🧡 You’re so right, those pauses can feel frustrating, but they often hold the biggest lessons. I’m learning to lean into them more and notice the small, quiet joys along the way.

  3. Good reminder it’s ok to sit with it!
I had been skipping my afternoon tea, so put everything out on the counter. Love the tranquility and warmth in my hands, then i had to check all their expirations!😏 A new sofa sounds devine!

    1. Ha ha, that sounds exactly like something I’d do! 😏 There’s something so comforting about that simple ritual, the warmth of the cup, the quiet moment to breathe… even if it leads to checking every expiry date in the cupboard! 😄 And yes, the new sofa is earning its keep already!
