The Leap from “What If” to “What’s Next”…

What If the Like-Minded United?…

Sometimes I sit and wonder, what if all the people who actually see the world for what it really is came together? Not the ones glued to the headlines, not the ones hypnotized by the latest celebrity scandal, but the ones who sense, deep down, that something is off. Those who see the cracks in the system and know life could, and should, be lived differently.

Can you imagine the difference? Picture it: no endless red tape, no “expert panels” telling us what’s good for us (while selling us the exact opposite on the supermarket shelves). Instead, a community of people who value honesty, fairness, and freedom above all else. People who grow their own food, share their skills, and actually look out for one another. A place where laughter is louder than the news, and truth is more valuable than money.

Now, let’s be real, it wouldn’t all be sunshine and songbirds. Someone would still burn the porridge. Someone else would still insist that the carrots should have been planted that way, not this way. But here’s the difference: even in the disagreements, there would be respect and humour, because we’d know we’re all moving in the same direction.

The funny thing is, the current system depends on us never getting that far. As long as the like-minded are scattered, doubting themselves, or too busy juggling bills and nonsense rules, the illusion of control holds strong. But if we ever truly linked arms, shared knowledge, and built something lasting together? The house of cards would topple faster than you could say “consultation process.”

And here’s the thought that sticks with me: maybe this isn’t just a daydream. Is it possible this is the blueprint we’ve been carrying all along? The future doesn’t have to be designed by the people who profit from division. It can be shaped by the ones who see through it.

So perhaps it’s time to stop just wondering about “what if”, and start building the “what’s next.”

  1. Maybe we are already building it, each in her/his own way, perhaps without fully realising it. The process may be slow, but ‘slow’ is a relative concept in any case. Let’s just get on with it and see what happens.

    1. Good point, Tony. We’re all architects of a better world, tossing in our own ideas! 🧡

    1. Whew, those forces are like the ultimate party crashers! But we’re out here building a better world anyway xx

  3. Mae,

Your words strike at something profound – this notion that scattered souls, each sensing the same fundamental discord, might one day find their way to each other. There is wisdom in recognising that the very scattering you describe is no accident.

I’ve long believed that the truest strength of any people lies not in their willingness to conform, but in their courage to question what they’re told to accept. And when such people do find each other – when they stop whispering their doubts alone and start speaking them aloud together – well, that’s when the real work begins.

You paint a picture of community that reminds me why humans have always gathered around fires, literal and metaphorical. Not because life becomes easy, but because it becomes bearable, and more than that – meaningful. Yes, someone will burn the porridge, and yes, there will be endless debates about carrot placement. But these small frictions are the price of genuine fellowship, and a bargain at that.

The house of cards you mention – it does indeed depend upon isolation. Systems built on deception require people to doubt their own eyes, to trust distant voices over near neighbours, to believe that their instincts are somehow less reliable than official pronouncements. But when neighbours start comparing notes, when they share not just their vegetables but their observations, the emperor’s new clothes become rather difficult to maintain.

Your call to move from “what if” to “what’s next” reminds me that every great change begins with someone deciding that wondering isn’t enough anymore. The blueprint you speak of – it’s been there all along, hasn’t it? Written not in manifestos or policy papers, but in the simple human knowledge that we belong to each other, that honest work and honest dealing make for honest lives.

So perhaps the question isn’t whether such communities can exist, but how quickly they can grow once people stop asking permission to build them.

The future, as you rightly say, belongs to those who see clearly – and more importantly, to those who act on what they see.

    With respect for your vision,

    Bob

    1. Thank you, Bob. Your words read like one of your own stories, rich, thoughtful, and full of heart. I love the way you captured the courage, curiosity, and connection that make real communities possible. Those small frictions, shared doubts, and honest work truly are the magic of human fellowship.

Moving from “what if” to “what’s next” begins with choosing to act together, and your reflections remind me why that choice is so worth making. Grateful for your insight, and for the storyteller’s gift you bring to every conversation.🧡

What if the like-minded united? We’d build something real, rooted in truth, not fear.
A community where love leads, not control.

Jesus taught us: “Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”Matthew 18:20

Maybe unity isn’t just possible, it’s part of God’s plan.

Let’s walk in faith and build it together.

Amen 🙏 I love that, “rooted in love and truth,” God can do amazing things through us when we walk together in faith. Excited to see what He grows in our community…

      2. Amen indeed, Willie 🙏 When roots run deep in love and truth, the branches can reach farther than we ever imagined. I’m excited too. Faith, community, and a bit of courage can grow the most unexpected and beautiful things.

  5. How I wish Mae, that the like minded can come together. Yet, even in this there is division or is it fear. But the fear is real, when voices are being silenced. I do wish that we actually understand that when we come together, we can be strong, we will be heard above the din and noise. The truth can be loud enough when there is strength in numbers.

But where are the voices? We talk in hushed whispers, in the safety of our cocoon. Unfortunately as long as we are still ruled by fear, the few voices that rise will be dumbed down.

    1. Bang on Iba 🧡. Fear has always been the tyrant’s greatest tool,it keeps the brave in whispers and the wise in shadows. But here’s the thing: every movement that ever shook the world began with a handful of voices daring to speak when it wasn’t safe. Even a whisper carries when it’s spoken with truth. Enough whispers, and you’ve got a roar that no amount of silencing can smother.

Maybe our strength isn’t only in big numbers but in each of us refusing to bow to fear, one by one, until the dam breaks. And it will. Truth has a habit of echoing louder than lies, no matter how much it’s muffled.

      1. I agree with you. Hopefully the sane voices will rise up. We have to rise up for the next generation. I hope I can be one of those too. I may not be able to leave anything for my children but I hope by speaking up, even at a personal cost I would leave them something that will never die, courage.
