The Quiet Gift of Morning…

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite time of day?

For me, it has to be the early morning. That lovely, hushed time before the rest of the world decides to get noisy. The birds are having their first chat, the kettle is humming, and the day feels wide open, full of possibility. It’s like the universe hands you a blank sheet of paper and says, “Here you go, let’s try again.”

Of course, it doesn’t always stay peaceful for long. Before you know it, emails start popping, someone wants something, and life comes barrelling in with its usual demands. But in those first minutes of the day, I get space to reflect, breathe, and maybe convince myself I’ll finally drink more water or actually stretch today (we’ll see).

Some people swear by evenings, saying they find their energy there. Others thrive in the middle of the day when everything is buzzing. But for me, nothing beats that soft, quiet promise of morning.

  4. For me too

  5. Mornings feel like a gentle reset – quiet, bird-trimmed edges, and a kettle stitching warmth into the day’s blank page. In that hush, intentions feel possible: breathe, stretch, sip, begin again. Then life accelerates – pings, pulls, and the calendar’s thrum – but those first minutes are a soft covenant with possibility. Evening may cradle some; midday may spark others; yet dawn’s promise is uniquely tender: a small window where attention feels unfractured and kindness toward oneself comes easier. Here’s to the hush before the hurry, the sip before the sprint, and the simple, steady vow to meet the day with a little grace.

    1. Bob, I love how you write🧡That is beautifully put. You’ve captured the hush before the hurry; it truly feels like a sacred pause. Those first moments set the tone, even if the day runs away after. Here’s to holding onto that tenderness as long as we can. Mae

  8. Mornings or the wee hours. As much as I dislike my bouts of insomnia, I do like the quiet and calm of that time around three when the world has largely stopped moving.
