Oh, I know that sounds awful! But…
But here it is! For me, motivation isn’t one-size-fits-all; it shows up in different ways depending on the day.
On the brighter side, it’s when I help someone and can see it actually make a difference. There’s a kind of magic in knowing you’ve lifted someone’s spirits or made life easier for them. Positive feedback fuels me, too, not because I need applause, but because it reminds me that what I did mattered.
Then there’s the everyday kind of motivation: those times when I finally stop procrastinating, roll up my sleeves, and get something done. Even if it’s just boring chores, the feeling afterwards is like giving myself a sneaky high five.
But there’s also the darker streak in me, the stubborn side. Sometimes what motivates me most is pure defiance. That voice that says, Oh, you think I can’t? Watch me. It’s not polished or pretty, but that “to hell with you, I will get it done” energy has carried me through more than a few impossible-feeling days.
Of course, I should probably mention coffee(but usually it’s tea). Coffee/Tea motivates me. So does chocolate. And the thought of finally sitting down afterwards, guilt-free, knowing I’ve ticked something off the list.
So I suppose my motivation is a cocktail, a mix of kindness, determination, rebellion, and caffeine. It might not be tidy, but it works for me.
And if all else fails… well, nothing gets me moving faster than proving someone wrong. 😉
