The Me You Can’t See…

Daily Writing Prompt: How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

Funny how this prompt feels like déjà vu, just a different spin on the one from a few days ago: How would you describe yourself to someone? Since we’re on WordPress and mostly connect through words and screens anyway, I guess it’s a reminder that how we show up beyond the surface really matters.

If you can’t see me, imagine a warm fire flickering quietly in a cozy room, sometimes bright and lively, sometimes just a comforting glow. I’m the whisper of wind through autumn leaves, a little wild but grounded in earth. My laugh comes easy, a bit sharp, with a hint of mischief hiding behind it. I’m like a patchwork quilt stitched from stories of rebellion, kindness, and a stubborn streak that won’t quit. I’m a soft place to land when the world gets loud, but also the spark that sets a little trouble in motion. And even when the silence settles, I’m still humming my own tune, never quite still, always curious.

Beyond that, I’m the echo of old family tales and new dreams, tangled up with moments of stubborn resilience. The friend who listens more than talks, but when I do speak, it’s from a place of fierce honesty. The one who can find humor in chaos and light in shadows, even if it’s sometimes wrapped in a cheeky grin or a well-timed sharp remark.

I’m the feeling of worn-in boots on a gravel path, steady and sure, yet ready to wander off the beaten track at a moment’s notice. I’m the scent of earth after rain, the quiet strength of roots digging deep, and the restless pulse of someone who’s always learning, always growing.

And since we don’t get to see each other here, I hope these words paint a picture that feels real, imperfect, warm, a little wild, and unapologetically me.

    1. Thanks, Tony 🧡 I was having all kinds of WP tech issues this morning. But finally got it sorted before I went to work. Sometimes I think it’s me… I am not tech-savvy at all!

  2. Mae, I feel as if I already know you. Your brutal honesty comes out, you don’t mince words yet you’re deeply affectionate and warm.. I see you without having seen you… does that make sense ☺️. I imagine you sitting by the fireplace, your little pup lying next to your feet, regaling us with stories and laughter. Much love 🧡🧡

    1. That makes perfect sense, Iba, and touched me more than you know 🧡. I’ve always felt that true connection doesn’t need polish, just presence and heart. Your words painted such a beautiful picture… and yes, there is a fireplace, and a dog at by side (usually snoring). Thank you for seeing me, really seeing me. Sending love right back, with a crackle of the fire and a wink from the ornery old man x 🧡
