Daily Writing Prompt: List 10 things you know to be absolutely certain.
Honestly? I don’t think I know anything for certain. Not a damn thing. Life seems to take great pleasure in proving me wrong the minute I get too sure of myself. But for the sake of this prompt, and in the spirit of throwing two fingers up to certainty, here’s what I suspect might be true:
- The universe has a twisted sense of humour.
- People will let you down, but they’ll also lift you up when you least expect it.
- Strong tea, bad language, and a long walk can fix what therapy sometimes can’t.
- If the ancestors are watching, half of them are shaking their heads and the other half are cheering me on.
- Grief is a shape-shifter; one day it’s a dull ache, the next it’s a full-blown ambush in the supermarket.
- The people who tell you to “stay positive” during chaos should be treated with suspicion.
- There’s more going on in this world (and beyond it) than we’ll ever understand, and thank God for that.
- Magic is real. It just doesn’t look like what we were told.
- You are allowed to be a beautiful contradiction, soft and fierce, spiritual and sweary, healing and utterly fed up.
- The day you stop caring what people think is the day you start getting to know yourself.
And I reserve the right to change my mind on all of the above by next week.
