Sage, Crystals, and Conversations with God…

Daily Writing Prompt: How important is spirituality in your life?

Spirituality’s always been one of those things I’ve felt more than defined. I believe in a higher power, whether it’s God, the Universe, my Higher Self, or some version of all three having a laugh at my expense some days. I believe in the things that resonate with me and make my soul feel like it’s been seen.

And truth be told… yes, I do walk around and sage and carry crystals. I’ve got one in my bra half the time, and my house smells like a cross between a forest and a church most days. I’ve tried pretty much all the modalities over the years, you name it, I’ve probably given it a lash. Reiki, angel cards, sound baths, moon rituals in the garden… and what I’ve learned is this: no matter what path you follow, it all leads back to the same place. A higher power. Something bigger than you. And the real magic is when you realize that connection was always inside you to begin with.

I talk to God daily. Not in a perfect, kneel-down, say-your-prayers kind of way. More like a “Right, what’s the craic today, Big Man?” or a quiet word when life feels heavy. I believe in following your inner knowing, that gut feeling you get when something’s off, or that nudge when you’re about to do something daft. I’ve ignored it enough times to know it’s not worth the hassle.

Spirituality to me isn’t about pretending to be pure and polished. It’s messy, honest, and sometimes downright hilarious. It’s about the Universe sending you a song on the radio at the exact moment you need it, or your granny showing up in a dream with advice you didn’t ask for but probably needed. It’s about finding comfort in the weirdness and meaning in the madness.

So yeah, it matters. In fact, it’s probably the one thing that’s kept me steady when everything else around me has been a bit of a circus. I don’t need to define it. I just need to feel it.

And if I happen to have a smoky quartz in my pocket while I do it? Even better.

  3. “It’s about the Universe sending you a song on the radio at the exact moment you need it…” I can’t count how many times that has happened, especially when I’m in the car and maneuvering through a day rife with tough decisions, overwhelming feelings, and bad drivers…Spot on!

  5. Nice post, thanks for sharing, most of this resonated with me – I’m also a Crystal collector. I don’t have any in my bra though, that’s usually where I find half eaten crisps and biscuit crumbs 🥴

    1. Haha, love it! Honestly, a woman after my own heart. I’ve had a few rogue crisps turn up in places they shouldn’t too. Crystals in the bra started as a ‘just in case’ thing for me… now it’s like a traveling shrine in there some days.

Glad this resonated with you, always lovely to meet a fellow crystal collector, biscuit crumb carrier, and kindred spirit. Thanks for reading and sharing a smile.
