A Message from Granny Frass: Speak Your Truth, Even If It Shakes the Pear Tree…
Well now… I’ve been watching. And if you think for one second I’m sitting quiet on the other side while folks carry on like eejits, you’re sorely mistaken.
Truth is, the world’s full of folk who don’t speak their hearts. Afraid of stirring the pot. Afraid of ruffling feathers. Well, let me tell you something love – sometimes those feathers need ruffling. Sometimes that pot needs a good stir. And sometimes the people who don’t like it were never on your side to begin with.
I spent too many years worrying what people might say. Wouldn’t wear this, wouldn’t say that. Held my tongue when I should’ve raised my voice. And where did it get me? A heart full of I should have said’s and I wish I’d done’s.
Not anymore.
If you’ve got something to say – say it. If you’ve been wronged, name it. If someone loves you, hold ‘em tight. And if they don’t, let ‘em go and don’t you waste a tear. Life’s too bloody short and the afterlife’s got better things to do than carry your grudges.
I raised gardens and babies and both taught me the same thing: what you don’t tend to, withers. And what you feed, grows. So watch what you’re feeding love. Is it bitterness? Or is it hope?
And don’t you dare believe for one minute that your voice doesn’t matter. It does. It always did. Even when it shook. Even when it cracked.
Now, I’ll leave you with this – there’s a storm brewing and it’s not just the weather. Stand in it. Speak your truth. And for the love of God, get yourself a decent cup of tea after.
I’ll be watching.
– Granny Frass
