Bed Hair, Bad Snacks, and Resilience….

Daily Writing Prompt: What’s your favorite thing about yourself?

Well now… there’s a question to make you squirm before breakfast.

I sat with it for a minute. Tried to come up with something charming or impressive. Thought about saying my long, sarcastic inner monologue or my ability to spot a liar at fifty paces. But the truth is, I think it might be my resilience.

Now, don’t get me wrong, resilience isn’t always glamorous. It rarely arrives in a superhero cape. Most days it turns up looking like bed hair, questionable snack choices, and a badly worded pep talk in the mirror. But it’s there.

It’s the part of me that’s weathered heartbreak, loss, bad decisions, cosmic slap-downs, and the occasional passive-aggressive Facebook comment – and somehow still finds a way to laugh at ridiculous things, get up when it’s easier to stay down, and believe in the goodness of people (even though I know better).

Resilience isn’t about bouncing back to who you were before. That version of me is long gone. It’s about crawling, limping, or laughing your way forward, dragging your scars and your weird sense of humor. And if you can crack a joke or dance badly in your kitchen while you do it, even better.

So yeah. Resilience. She’s a scruffy old friend of mine. And I’m glad she stuck around.

  1. Now what does bed hair look like? 😏
    I hear you M.
From my observations, I’m sure you have more than one favourite thing about yourself.
With all humility and honesty, we all have more than one trait, and if anyone says they don’t, I feel sorry for them.
Not being able to identify at least 1, shows a lack of love for oneself.

I would have to say mine is my faith.😇

Thanks for sharing my dear, I’m glad I was first on this one.
As you can see, I’m using my TSH acc, as my FSAC Jetpack/WordPress acc, is jacked up. 🙁
The pros at Jetpack are supposed to be fixing it, once done, my now, non-existing feed, ‘should’ return, and work correctly.🙏
Yep, another of my traits is being tested and tried with this situ…my patience. 🙄

Off to search for more of your untouched 💎💎.

    1. Ah, bed hair, it’s the perfect mix of “I woke up like this” and “please don’t judge me too hard.” 😏

I love what you said about having more than one favorite trait. Self-love really is a garden, not a single flower. Faith is such a beautiful cornerstone to have; it steadies the soul when patience is running thin. Here’s to uncovering those hidden gems, yours and mine, even when the tech gods test our endurance. Keep shining, Phil! 💎💎

      1. Thanks M,
Appreciate it, and glad you liked my response to your post. 🤗
Those “tech pros” still haven’t sorted it yet.
It starts off with the ruddy AI then moves to a human support tech…still waiting, as it’s seriously affecting my workflow. 😠

      2. Fingers crossed those so-called “pros” get their act together soon. You handled it like a champ, though, and your response to my post was spot on, as always. 🤗
