What’s the oldest thing you own that you still use daily?

Daily Writing Prompt…

The oldest thing I use daily is my intuition. It’s older than time, older than any book or heirloom you could hold in your hand. It’s that quiet voice in my gut, that nudge in the chest when something feels off, that warmth in my bones when it’s right. It’s been with me through every storm and sunny day, and though I’ve ignored it a time or two, it’s never steered me wrong when I chose to listen.

If we’re talking physical things though, well, I live on Faurel Hill, and some of the stones out here have stories older than my bloodline. I swear the land itself hums with old secrets, and if you sit still long enough, you can almost hear them. So maybe it’s not just my intuition I use daily, but the ancient memory of this place beneath my feet.

  1. What’s that saying? “Great minds…”
    Love this post M.😇
When I thought about the prompt, I thought more about my intelligence, or, similar to yours, my discernment.
However, looking back over my life, I would have to say, there were numerous occasions, when I didn’t use either of them well.🤣
Only dear Lord Jesus, can say whether my smart choices, outweighed my stupid ones. 😉
I think I would have to say, it’s my gift of forgiveness.
I’ve exercised it so many times, forgiving the hardest person for me to forgive, myself.
As well as asking for it from others, and having the forgive the umpteen amount of times others have wronged me.
So yeah, ‘one’ of the oldest things I own and still use, sometimes too frequently, is the gift of forgiveness.

    1. Ohhh yes, Phil, that right there is wisdom wrapped in grace. 😇
It’s easy to reflect on all the times we didn’t use our intelligence or discernment (I’ve got a whole blooper reel myself!), but the ability to keep forgiving, especially ourselves, that’s the real treasure. It’s not flashy, but it’s powerful. And it seems to get heavier to carry the more we mature, which makes the fact that you still choose to use it all the more meaningful. Thank you as always for your thoughts and comments🧡

I love how you put it: forgiveness as something old, worn-in, but still fully functional, like a well-loved tool you never stop reaching for. May we all wear ours in as beautifully.
      Much Love xxx
