Episode 15 -When Narcissism Turns Loud…

The Paperwork Isn’t Signed, But the Drama Sure Is, Still Up In The Air

So… imagine sipping your morning coffee, mentally preparing for a calm, uneventful day – and then BANG BANG, surprise! My brother, Bully Yates, is outside my house, firing shots into the air like it’s the 4th of July and he’s the grand marshal of Dysfunction Parade.

Let me be clear: this was not about hunting. There were no birds in the sky – unless you count the metaphorical ones flying out of my mouth. This was mid-morning. Bright daylight. Fully intentional. Right outside my home.

And he knows the poor dog- Heff – is terrified of gunfire. He knows that. But when you’re driven by ego, intimidation becomes a form of entertainment. This is textbook narcissism. We’re not talking subtle here—we’re talking Oscar-worthy, backyard dramatics.

What’s the motive, you ask? Oh, nothing major… just the small matter of a will paperwork I haven’t signed yet. And as anyone with a narcissistic sibling knows, nothing turns up the heat like legal paperwork and a loss of control.

This wasn’t a misunderstanding. This wasn’t a quirky outdoors man moment. This was Bully, doing what bullies do best: using volume, theatrics and a firearm to make a point without saying a word. (Except the point was ‘Look at me!’ and… we did.)

I’ve been quiet about a lot of things over the years. But watching this happen-with full awareness, no subtlety, and absolute disregard – was the final straw in a haystack of ridiculousness.

Lesson of the Day:
When someone shows up to your house with a gun and zero birds in sight, they’re not hunting. They’re performing. And when you start seeing the show for what it is? That’s when you stop being the audience.
